Meet Liya Akhedzhakova in Paris starring in the play "My Grandson Veniamin".
"My Grandson Veniamin" is a fascinating story about family relationships, which concerns the main character Esfira. Her life is imbued with memories of the past, where the traditions and routines of her childhood remain in her mind. Esfira is strong and used to solving everything for others, but her attempts to find a suitable bride for her son are unsuccessful. However, when she decides to go to her native Bobruisk and bring a young beauty, a future "proven" bride, her elaborately planned world suddenly disintegrates. Esfira's son resists the arranged marriage, and the bride turns out not to be what she seemed....
The play perfectly embodies the classic confrontation between "fathers" and "children". This funny and at the same time touching story about maternal love, capable of both creating beautiful and destroying everything around.
Lyudmila Ulitskaya wrote this funny and touching story in the late 80s, and today it remains relevant. The themes of intergenerational relationships, national issues and the depth of the human soul will always be interesting for the audience.
The duration of the performance is 1 hour and 50 minutes, without intermission.
The play was first presented in July 2015. Since then, "My Grandson Benjamin" has been successfully shown in various countries from Foggy Albion to the Far East. The play has toured twice to the USA and Canada, and has been successfully performed in Israel, the Baltics and Belarus.
