The Milan Ballet is an ambassador of Italian ballet and one of the most renowned theaters in Italy. The skill of Milanese dancers inspires audiences around the world. This theater has a history of 40 years of hard work and successful performances both in Italy and on the most important stages in England, Ireland, Switzerland, Spain and France.
In 2017, the company was awarded the "Award of Excellence", the "Oscar" of the Italian dance world.
Balletto di Milano's production of Carmen is considered one of the theater's most impressive performances. The main character Carmen is a beautiful, unconventional and passionate woman, desirable and unbending. She opposes everyone who tries to dominate her. Carmen realizes that the only way to live the way she wants is to submit to fate and accept the death predicted by the cards. Tradition and modernity merge in Marco Pesta's energetic interpretation.
The elegant costumes, created by Italian designer Federico Veratti, are also an example of high art. The production subverts traditional expectations, but remains true to the story of Prosper Mérimée and Georges Bizet's famous opera.
